酪梨為熱帶常綠喬木，可高達20公尺，定期澆水，維持土壤濕潤，一天天過去看著葉子越變越大。
可以繼續用水耕，也可以將酪梨小樹苗種到土裡，放在靠近光線溫暖的環境。
長出根後，種子裂成一半中間有小幼苗穿破硬核，一天天的長長，這時將小幼苗移到靠近窗戶的地方。
將酪梨切開一半取出裡面的酪梨種子，清洗黏膜，並將種子咖啡外皮小心的剝除，芽點朝下放在淺盤裡，水只要沒入種子的底部，兩、三天換一次水並輕輕的洗種子，等待根長出來，長根後更要小心地洗，以免弄斷，可能是寒冷的冬天，一起水培的種子長出根的時間也不同，就這樣等了好幾個月呢。
